We believe that the most important images are those that reveal personality and emotion. Photographs about genuine love, friendship and our connection to the places we live.

Lovelight Photography is the creation of the husband and wife team of Jonathan and Shannon Kirshner . Our love of life and the wonderful way it is communicated through photography is what led us to our profession. It also led us to each other, and ultimately, our wonderful home in Asheville where we're raising our three children, twins Harrison and Allison and baby girl Hanna.

Our relationship began while students in the photojournalism program at Western Kentucky University. For over 20 years, WKU has been named one of the top programs for photojournalists. It is at WKU where we went on internships at newspapers across the country. During this time, we both were finalists in the William Randolph Hearst Journalism Competition, which is frequently called the Pulitzer's of collegiate journalism.

Professionally, we have received dozens of awards from organizations and competitions that recognize the work of photojournalists. Our talents brought us to Springfield in June of 2004 where we both joined the photography staff of The State Journal-Register newspaper which in 2005 was named one of the best newspapers for photography by Photo District News magazine. In 2007, Jonathan was the top-ranked Illinois photographer in the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA).
